Dixmont - Traffic was slowed at the corner of Moosehead Trail in Dixmont this morning, thanks to an 18-wheeler leaking fuel.
Just a small amount of diesel leaked from the truck... a few quarts at the most according to dixmont Fire Chief James Dunivan. He said a rock is most likely to blame for the small crack that lead to the leak.
Crews quickly cleaned up the fuel....leaving no concern for oncoming traffic or the environment. The biggest hassle was for nearby road work crews, busy paving. The diesel fuel makes it harder for new tar to stick to the roads.
The Department of Environmental Protection was called to the scene just as a procaution.
