Acadia Hospital in Bangor says this day is important because there has been an influx in children with mental health issues recently.
Some of these issues are situational, such as anxiety or depression, or stem from trauma and changes in our society.
Acadia offers programs to help integrate children back into the community.
During the summer months, the hospital offers a treatment program, designed for kids, to help manage family life, anger, life and social skills.
The curriculum also features trained facilitators and weekly field trips.
