BAR HARBOR - A Bar Harbor laboratory has made a major breakthrough in cancer treatment, all while announcing a new collaboration to study tumors with Connecticut hospitals.
Eliminating cancer without the negative side effects of current chemotherapy. That's becoming a reality at The Jackson Laboratory.
Researchers have identified a molecule that would destroy cancer cells without damaging healthy tissue.
Meanwhile, the lab announced they would be working with specialists at Hartford Hospital and Connecticut Children's Medical Center, to find better cancer treatments at a lower cost.
The partnership with the hospitals is underway, and a clinical trial of the new genetic chemotherapy could be on the market by the end of 2014.
