ORONO - Hundreds of people were celebrating Earth Day, spring, and good vibes in the community today at the University of Maine, for the annual HOPE Festival. Our Erin Thomas reports.
HOPE: Help Organize Peace, Earthwide. The message many people were spreading, Saturday at the 19th annual festival at the University of Maine.
The theme of this year's HOPE Festival, was "Do One Thing." An effort to get people to jot down an idea or aspiration they have that would have a positive effect on others as well.
Some of the speakers included a teenage girl who wrote a song about hope following the earthquake in Haiti, and a farmer who stresses the importance of growing your own food.
Each one embodying the aspect of "do one thing," and all, celebrating the progress that has been made by activist groups around the state.
