Safety Day Aims to Educate Kids on Emergency Situations

ORRINGTON - house fires and car accidents can be traumatic and frightening events for children, that's why one local department decided to dedicate a day to educating kids.

The Orrington Fire Department held a Safety Day at the Center Drive School today, with fire and rescue vehicles, State Police K-9 unit, Maine State Game Wardens, and the Sheriff's Department all on hand for kids to ask questions.

A big event of the afternoon was a JAWS of life demonstration, aimed at showing people how vehicles are cut into on accident scenes.
