Former EMCC Students Pleads Not Guilty to Murder Charges

Bangor - The search is over for the New York man Bangor police say stabbed another man to death on Ohio Street earlier this month. 23 year-old Akeem Harris has surrendered to authorities, and was arraigned in a Bangor court room earlier today.
Once aware of the warrant out for his arrest in connection with the stabbing death of 30 year-old Thomas Taylor -- 23 year-old Akeem Harris returned to Bangor Friday to face a judge. The former Eastern Maine Community College student had apparently moved home to live with his parents in the New York village of Amityville... *this* after the college banned him from campus for reasons unknown.
Not guilty was the plea Harris entered to murder charges stemming from an Ohio Street stabbing back on April 9th. Authorities say the victim was stabbed in the chest during an altercation with Harris at a Bangor apartment complex.
His attorney says was a case of self defense... and that Harris left the state only because he was kicked off campus. Harris is being held without bail at the state's request. A bail hearing will likely be scheduled for next month.
