Hearing in Augusta on Keeping Small Businesses Open on Certain Holidays

AUGUSTA - Small stores in the Pine Tree State may soon be allowed to stay open on certain holidays.
Current state law says stores under 10,000 square feet need to close on holidays such as Easter and Christmas.  
 
Today, A hearing was held in Augusta discussing a bill that would allow stores under that square footage to stay open on those holidays.
 
The bill was put forth by Representative David Johnson of Eddington.

When not in the newsroom, Andrew enjoys volunteering at the Bangor Humane Society. You can see him there at least once a week interacting with many of the dogs. He also enjoys cooking, reading, watching his favorite movies, and going to the gym.
