BAR HARBOR - Downeast Horizons hosted it's annual Autism Awareness Walk-a-Thon in Bar Harbor today.
Downeast Horizons' children and adults, along with community members came together Tuesday morning to participate in the fifth annual Autism Awareness Walk-a-Thon in Bar Harbor.
As part of Autism Awareness Month, Downeast Horizons held this 1.5 mile walk to raise money for an autism resource library at its facility.
Several veterans of the walk were on hand, not to be outdone by some who were attending for the first time.
Camden National Bank was just one of the sponsors for this event, and for some employees it hit close to home.
One in 50 children are affected with an Autistic disorder, but new studies show that it may be treatable.
Ellen Stanley says her daughter, Emma has significantly improved since diagnosis.
