BANGOR - The decision to accept federal Medicaid funds in order to provide health care coverage to thousands of Mainers has been an on going discussion throughout the pine tree state. On Wednesday, Mainers directly affected by the decision in Augusta, met with Congressman Michaud to express their concerns.
A small group met with Congressman Mike Michaud, to discuss the importance of accepting federal Medicaid funding through the Affordable Care Act.
From college students to cancer patients, each person shared a personal story of how they've been affected by health care assistance.
If the government chooses to accept the federal funds, it would help to cover approximately 70,000 Mainers, and earn the pine tree state an estimated 570-million dollars over 10 years.
