Porter Enters Plea in FL Firefighter Murder Case
BELFAST -- Daniel Porter pleaded guilty to manslaughter, stemming from the death of a Florida firefighter in February of 2012 in Waldo County Superior Court, Wednesday.
 
The 25 year-old Jackson man admits he shot to death Jerry Perdomo, 31, of Seminole County, Florida.
 
Porter had originally been charged with murder.
 
It happened on February 16, 2012 in Jackson. Perdomo's body was later found in a wooded area in Newburgh.
 
Prosecutors say the crime was drug-related, and Perdomo had traveled to Bangor monthly, transporting prescription narcotics.
 
Porter is slated to be sentenced April 22.
 
The Attorney General's office is planning to recommend a sentence of 30 years, with all but 20 suspended, plus four years of probation.
