Students Share Soups and Knowledge of Women's Issues in Maine

BANGOR - It was a feast of soups at the University of Maine Augusta Bangor campus today...an effort to bring awareness to the issues many women in the state face.

UMA's women in curriculum and women's studies students held their annual Soup and Substance event, inviting community members to learn about hardships like hunger, that several people in Maine and around the world- particularly women, struggle with each day.

Along with a variety of vegetarian soups for those in attendance to share, students displayed posters surrounding topics they have discussed and learned about in their classes.
