ORONO - For several decades...it's been a weekend all about the sporting industry. We sent our Erin Thomas to the University of Maine where thousands of people are checking out the latest, in equipment and craftsmanship.
It's time for the annual Eastern Maine Sportsmen's Show, put on each year by the Penobscot County Conservation Association. But this year, the show is celebrating its 75th anniversary as the longest running all-volunteer sports show in America.
With over 170 vendors, there is a hobby or craft to spark a variety of interests. From boating...to fishing...and hunting. One organization featured at the show is House in the Woods. They raise money to bring veterans on free hunting trips.
Children are another big focus at this event, as the PCCA tries to raise money to fund scholarships for students studying wildlife ecology, forestry, and law enforcement at the University of Maine and Unity College.
If you missed the fun today, you can still get in on the action tomorrow...the show will go from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Sunday.
