WATERVILLE - When most people think of addictions, the thought of drugs and alcohol may come to mind first. But, there are more forms of this disease that can ruin the lives of so many.
The bright lights, fast paced games, drinking, music, and good company. Gambling can be entertaining, but for some it can also be an addiction.
Lesa Densmore is a recovering gambling addict. She believes the activity can be a deadly one, for she once attempted suicide during her recovery process.
The Maine office of Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services hosted the first state wide conference on problem gambling.
In Bangor, Hollywood Casino does their best effort to make sure players don't lose control of their funds, such as leaving ATMs off the gaming floor.
While not everyone who gambles will develop an addiction, its important to always play responsibly.
