Elderly Couple Found Dead in Aroostook County
CHAPMAN - State police are investigating the deaths of an elderly couple found at their home in Aroostook County earlier today.
Officials say they received a call from a family member just before noon, alerting them to the residence on Chapman Road in Chapman. There, they found 81-year-old Marcus Sykora, 81, dead in the basement, and his 77-year-old wife Sheila, seriously injured.
Sheila was taken to a nearby hospital, where she later died. Both bodies will be transported to Augusta, where autopsies are scheduled for tomorrow.
Detectives say they do not suspect anyone from outside the home is involved in the matter.
