Danger in Returning to a Home After a Fire

BANGOR - One local man was seriously injured recently...when he returned to his home just days after it was destroyed by a fire...showing how dangerous these situations can be.
A blaze destroyed a home in LaGrange.  But when the homeowner returned in an effort to salvage some of his belongings, he was critically injured in the process.  Now, fire officials are warning that going back inside a home even after the flames have been extinguished is not a good idea.
If you do choose to risk going through the remains, you may want to notify your home owner's insurance company first. And officials say even if you can salvage a few items, it's not worth putting yourself in harms way.
