Maine Shows Weak Economic Growth

AUGUSTA - According to the Maine Economic Growth Council's annual evaluation, there is cause for concern in the Pine Tree State.

Released yesterday, the report grades over two dozen focus areas to measure progress in the state.
This year's edition shows many more red flags than gold stars. Problem areas include state spending on research and development, health wellness and prevention, and the percentage of children and adults living in poverty. There are positives, however, in the area of eighth grade math scores, and state water quality.
