Maine Congressional Leaders on DOMA Repeal

Lawmakers around the country are putting in their two cents on the Defense of Marriage Act, which has been brought forth to the Supreme Court.

Republican Senator Susan Collins is the only member of maine's congressional delegation not to sign a court brief supporting Same-Sex Marriage.

The brief asks the US Supreme Court to strike down DOMA; which denies federal benefits to same-sex couples.

A spokesman for the Senator said Collins believes that individual states should decide the issue.

Collins has earned praise from gay-rights groups for her positions on issues that are important to the LGBT community.
