Standoff suspect appears in court

ROCKLAND-A man accused of causing a police standoff in Rockland had just been released from jail.

That information was shared today when 62 year old Timothy St. Thomas of Bangor appeared in court.

He was arrested Sunday after police were called to the Trade Winds Inn after he allegedly got into a confrontation and was making a lot of noise.

Police told him he would have to leave, but claim St. Thomas threatened the officers and swung a stick at their heads.

Police attempted to talk him into surrendering, but say he barricaded himself inside the room.

it ended nearly 5 hours later when he was arrested and charged with criminal threatening with a dangerous weapon, disorderly conduct and criminal trespass.

According to Village soup, St. Thomas had just completed a sentence for a prior offense and was making his way home from prison when he decided to stop at the inn.

his bail was set today at $5 thousand dollars cash.
