United Way of Eastern Maine has been around for 80 years now, raising money and helping less-fortunate residents in our area.
Leaders, volunteers, and local families were at Playland Adventures Tuesday to not only celebrate the birthday, but also to announce that the organization reached last year's fundraising goal of $1.8 million.
Campaign chair Denis St. Peter said "We've been working hard on setting the goals and making them achievable, so when we got the word we had finally achieved our goal, we were very excited."
Those in attendance also had a chance to win prizes including a $500 L.L. Bean gift card, and even a brand new car.
