This event is meant to honor volunteers for Safe Families for Children, stepping up to help families in crisis situations. These local church volunteers are part of the organization, Safe Families for Children.
It connect struggling parents who voluntarily place their children with loving homes in the community, giving parents the time they need to get back on their feet. This reduces the amount of children entering the child welfare system.
Director Robin Chamberlain said "We want to show folks that just like local churches are a part of larger group of folks. People in Maine are part of a larger movement, a national movement of Safe Families for Children. It's good to hear the stories of families staying together because of their neighbors loving them through Safe Families for Children."
It's also a time to celebrate those families that were able to be helped because of the organization.
You can join the celebration this Sunday live at 7 p.m. on "Safe Families for Children's" Facebook page.
