This caused multiple accidents, including a rollover on !-95 southbound near Orono. Police said the driver escaped with minor injuries.
An oil truck also went off the road on the interstate. The truck was full of oil at the time, but only leaked a little. The driver of that truck escaped with some minor bumps and bruises.
State police said all things considered, it could have been a lot worse.
MSP Trooper Forrest Simpson said "I don't think anybody expected the roads to do what they're doing right now, dot has gotten out now and things are starting to calm down, but there were a large amount of crashes, from rollovers to just little fender benders."
Downeast folks were looking at upwards of six inches of snow. A number of schools downeast had early dismissals today.
Maine State Police are reminding everyone to slow down in inclement weather and be alert.
