According to gasbuddy.com, the price for a gallon of unleaded has risen about 4 cents over the past week to an average price of $2.61.
The national average has also increased to $2.57. That's more than 30 cents higher than a year ago.
Analysts expect prices will continue to climb following crude oils recent record breaking run.
They site the federal reserves half-point interest rate cut, the falling dollar and uncertainty because of tropical storms in the Gulf of Mexico as reasons for the increase.
