Grant funds new recovery house in Portland

PORTLAND - A Portland addiction center will open a $400,000 recovery house just for women, thanks to a grant.

The Milestone Recovery Center in Portland earned the money through the next generation foundation, and a donation from the Cary Charitable Trust.

Organizers said while it will take time to build, in the end the center will treat women in a more comfortable environment.

Milestone Recovery Executive Director Bob Fowler said "We see every day the impact of the absence of those resources in the community. So we were thrilled to know we were able to make a real meaningful impact in the community with those funds."

Organizers said their next step is to find an exact location for the center in Portland.
