Waterville man indicted in connection with police standoff

WATERVILLE - A man charged with creating a 14 hour police standoff in Waterville has been indicted by the Kennebec County Grand Jury.

Authorities said Michael Joslyn, 23, fired shots inside his College Avenue apartment in December.

Police said Joslyn had been having a dispute with his landlord and some bullets entered the landlords downstairs apartment, narrowly missing the man.

Police got the landlord out safely but Joslyn refused to come out and fired more shots inside the home.

Nearby neighbors had to be evacuated while negotiators tried to talk Joslyn into surrendering.

Joslyn is also charged with aggravated reckless conduct and criminal mischief.
