According to the head of the Maine Association of Non-Profits, the economy is supported by the public, private, and non-profit sectors. That was the message delivered to legislators today at the State House.
Jennifer Hutchins, Maine Association of Non-Profit Organizations, said "One in six workers in Maine works at a non-profit. So when you look at it from that perspective nationally it's one in ten. In Maine it's one in six. So there's a significant portion of the non-profit sector that's contributing to our economy."
That group has members from the health and human services, arts and culture, as well as economic development and education fields.
Tuesday morning, nearly a dozen of the group's members were in the Hall of Flags to educate lawmakers.
