Hepatitis A is on the rise in Maine

STATEWIDE - Hepatitis A is on the rise in Maine.

That's according to the Maine Center for Disease Control and Prevention which has seen an increase in the number of cases over the past three months.

The CDC has received reports of six cases of hepatitis A in recent months, but overall that's a normal amount over the course of the year.

It's a liver disease caused by someone swallowing something that's contaminated with feces from someone who has Hepatitus a.

The good news is it's completely preventable with a vaccine.
