UPDATE: East Machias robbery leads to officer-involved shooting

EAST MACHIAS- An investigation is underway following a home robbery leading to an officer-involved shooting in East Machias Saturday.

Reports came in just before noon on Saturday of a home in East Machias.

The caller said he entered her home, took out a weapon, demanded money, and then left on foot.

Police determined the suspect to be 33 year-old Jason Jackson of East Machias.

Washington County Sheriff's Deputies and an officer from the Maine Marine Patrol later located Jackson at a home in Machiasport.

An armed confrontation took place between the marine patrol officer and Jackson, and both Jackson and a female resident were shot and injured.

There is no information yet on what led to the confrontation.

The Attorney General's office is investigating the use of deadly force by an officer-- as they do for every officer-involved shooting.
