Maine State Police said Bruce Theriault, 47, was driving a Ford pickup on Route 11 when he lost control around 3:30 a.m. He ended up sliding into a utility pole, bringing utility wires down across the highway.
A short time later, an 18 wheeler driven by Jeffrey Jandreau, 55, traveled into the downed lines and became entangled. It took about three hours for utility crews to untangle the truck.
Local traffic had to be detoured through a nearby parking lot until the scene could be cleared.
Police believe Theriault lost control because he was driving too fast.
