That's according to the latest numbers from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development. The annual survey showed homelessness increased in Maine by 1.7 percent.
That after local communities reported more than 2,200 people experienced homelessness on a single night this year.
Homelessness among families with children increased by one percent over the last year. While homelessness among veterans in Maine decreased by 10.2 percent.
There's also progress reported in the number of people who are experiencing long term chronic homelessness.
That decreased by nearly 7.5 percent.
