David Carr, 25, is accused of holding up the Big Apple Store on State Street on November 12th.
Police said he ran off after the robbery and managed to get away, but an encounter later that night with a Maine State Trooper ending up leading to his arrest. Officials said he stopped to help Carr when he ran out of gas on interstate 395 and statements made to the trooper made him suspicious.
That information was passed on to Bangor police who searched Carr's house for evidence and ultimately arrested him today.
Carr is now charged with robbery and possession of illegal drugs.
Police said the addition drug charge was added because Carr carried suspected narcotics with him when he went in for questioning today before his arrest.
