Old Town YMCA holding a fundraiser for teen center

OLD TOWN - The Old Town YMCA launches a shoe drive fundraiser to help with its teen center.

The "Y" will earn funds based on the total weight of gently worn, used and new shoes collected. "Funds2orgs" will issue a check for the collected shoes.

Those dollars will directly benefit the teen center and be used to purchase furniture, activities, and equipment.

All donated shoes will then be redistributed throughout the "Fund2orgs" network of small business partners in helping them maintain and grow small businesses in developing countries where economic opportunity and jobs are limited.

YMCA marketing director Aimee Thibodeau said "It's pretty cool to be able to teach our kids one that they have an impact but two be able to have them see some of the benefits, and for us to be able to help another organizations which is one of the core values we try and do at the why."

Anyone can help by dropping off shoes at the Old Town YMCA.

At 472 Stillwater Avenue Old Town from now until December 31st.
