BIDDEFORD - A member of the first family is heading to Maine. First daughter Ivanka Trump will be in Biddeford to talk tax reform Friday.

The president of Volk Packaging, the Biddeford company holding the event, said the visit is a surprise. He said he was told about it just visit a few days ago.

 

Along with the president's daughter, Maine Republican Senator Susan Collins will be in attendance, as will U.S. Treasurer Jovita Carranza.

 

Derek Volk said this will be a sort of town hall, starting with a moderated discussion on President Trump's tax plan.

 

It's also a private event, though Volk said his phone has been ringing off the hook with people interested in stopping by.

 

Volk stated he's honored by the visit. He added "Our customers represent a broad range of the economic environment here in the united states so i think we're a great place to host something like this."

 

Ivanka Trump is the president's advisor.

 

The event is set to start at 12:15 p.m. put its not open to the public.
