PITTSFIELD - It was late Monday afternoon when the driver of a tractor trailer truck crashed while entering a construction zone.

State police say Conor MacDonald, 24, of Prince Edward Island was hauling a load of french fries to Florida when the crash happened.

He said he was blinded by the setting sun when his truck entered the one-lane construction zone.

In order to avoid striking the vehicles in front of him, MacDonald steered the rig into the median side ditch where the truck rolled over.

He wasn't injured, but crews remained on the scene until late last night removing the wreckage.
