Two recent hunting accidents brings the incident number to five

STATEWIDE - Game wardens are investigating two weekend hunting incidents.

One shooting occurred north of Rangley about 6 p.m. Friday.

 

Officials said Robert Cyr, 32, of Penobscot was hunting with his friend Ben Burns, 32 of Freeport. Authorities said both men spotted a partridge in the roadway and fired.

 

Cyr was hit with more than 20 pellets. He taken to the hospital to be treated.

 

In an unrelated incident, a Kennebunkport woman is recovering from a gunshot wound to her foot.

 

Kayla Corey, 28, was hunting partridge in Piscataquis County Monday afternoon. While loading her gun with birdshot the firearm discharged and the shot struck her in the foot.

 

This latest hunting related incident makes for Maine's 5th this year.
