They were found in the crumpled wreckage of their vehicle Monday afternoon. The two children survived, but Liza Parker, 26, of Bangor did not. Parker was reported missing Sunday night when she failed to show up in Howland to meet with her ex-husband with the children. A passing tractor trailer truck spotted the wreckage of their vehicle near the Old Town/Hudson exit and called for help.
The Mazda had drifted from the roadway on a curve and vaulted over a crossover in the median before coming to rest on its side in some trees. Both children were still in their car seats when the vehicle was found. A five year old boy and an 18 month girl were both pulled from the wreckage and brought to Eastern Maine Medical Center with minor injuries. Troopers believe the crash happened Sunday night and wasn't discovered until early Monday afternoon.
