PORTLAND - A team from Maine is heading to Puerto Rico to help with the hurricane recovery effort.

Five members of the American Red Cross is made up of people from all over the state. Including Darlene Helms of Hampden who will lead the team.

They're leaving Monday and will be deployed to areas hit the hardest by Hurricanes Irma and Maria.

They've volunteered for longer than usual deployments to help with the ongoing effort.

Two other red cross teams have also been assembled in Maine.

They're expected to be deployed to Puerto Rico or the U.S. Virgin Islands in the coming weeks.
