Bangor Symphony Orchestra receives generous donation

BANGOR - The Bangor Symphony Orchestra received a generous donation.

A $25,000 grant from the Bangor Savings Bank Foundation.

The banks grants allowed the symphony to execute its first phase of renovations, which is equipment purchasing and getting the building up to code.

Brian Hinrichs the Executive Director of the Bangor Symphony Orchestra said "This has been so key for us being able to hit the ground running in the new space and it's a great vote of confidence for the work that we're doing and the idea of forming really a multi use arts center in Downtown Bangor."

They are now fund-raising for phase two and are hoping to add musical and production equipment to really make it a star venue. The community is invited to experience the showcase of the Bangor arts organizations on Friday October 6th from 5 -9 pm.

Shonna Narine joined the ABC7 and FOX22 team in August 2017. Originally from Long Island (although she hides her accent for TV) she's excited to see what Maine has to offer.

She graduated from Five Towns College in Dix Hills Long Island where she anchored for their TV Club, and had her own radio show called "All Access Entertainment."

She won an outstanding achievement award and graduated on the dean's list.

Prior to graduation Shonna interned at News12 Long Island.

Shonna comes from a big family. With three older sisters, her parents, and six nieces and nephews there's never a dull moment when she's around them. When she's not working she enjoys working out, dancing, spending time with her fiance, and planning her wedding! Shonna would love to hear if you have any story ideas.
