Mary Snow School's principal being deployed to assist with hurricane relief

BANGOR - Students at Bangor's Mary Snow School are saying see you later to their principal.

But Brian Bannen returns in two months, after deploying with a Coast Guard team headed south to help with hurricane relief.

The students and parents were notified Monday.

This morning, they let Bannen know how they feel about him.

Bannen said "The community's been wonderful. People were outside this morning greeting me and just thanking me. When you get into the Military Reserve or active duty you're not looking for the accolades. So it's a little uncomfortable. But I really appreciate it. It's just been a fantastic reaction. Everybody's been really supportive."

Bannen stated just what he'll be doing is up in the air, but he's sure they'll be helping with the clean up from Hurricanes Irma or Harvey .
