Governor LePage talks about electricity at press conference

AUGUSTA - Governor Paul LePage wants to reduce the cost of electricity for businesses.

During a news conference Thursday morning, LePage said the key to attracting businesses, is by reducing energy costs in the state. He's said he wants to cut the industrial electric rate by two cents per kilowatt hour, from nine cents to seven cents per hour.

Governor LePage added "Every single paper mill that has come and gone has been in my office talking about electricity rates in the last decade."

The governor is waiting for republican legislative leaders to respond to his request for support of the proposal before submitting the rate decrease to lawmakers.
