Millions of dollars to help fight opioid crisis

WASHINGTON D.C. - The State of Maine is receiving more money to help fight the drug abuse battle.

Maine's senior senator, Republican Susan Collins announced Wednesday the Department of Health and Human Services will receive more than $2 million to help with the heroin and opioid abuse.

In a statement Collins said the number of overdose deaths are hitting record highs here in Maine, and this funding will support vital programs to combat the issue.

Nearly $500 million in funding will be divided among all 50 states.
