Sometime between the time the Orono Bog Boardwalk closed on Wednesday night, and 6 am Thursday morning, vandals damaged the boardwalk, keeping a favorite nature walk closed for more than 8 hours Thursday. Volunteers worked tirelessly to repair the more than 16 deck boards and wheelchair railings that were torn up, broken, and some tossed into the bog. Orono Bog Boardwalk Chairman Jim Bird said many volunteers came to assist in the repairs, and the boardwalk was able to re-open around around 3 pm Thursday afternoon. Bangor Police are investigating the vandalism. If you have any information, you're asked to call the Bangor Police Department.
