About time: WWII airmen receive long-overdue POW medals

Seven World War II era U.S. Army Air Forces personnel shot down and captured while fighting Hitler’s Nazi regime will finally receive long overdue Prisoner of War medals during a ceremony Wednesday at the Pentagon. For decades, the airmen were denied POW status after they were shot down over Germany, only to be later interned in a prison camp in Wauwilermoos, Switzerland.
