Winterport couple feels lucky after fire

WINTERPORT - A local couple had a fire early Thursday that luckily only destroyed their garage.

Linda and Tim Canhan said their garage quickly became fully engulfed in flames and all they could do was watch as they waited for fire crews to arrive.

"I got stuck in the driveway going out this morning, which got him out plowing. I had to go to yoga, and when I pulled into the driveway I saw him standing with someone else in the driveway and I looked back and noticed all the smoke," Linda Canhan said as fire crews battled the blaze.

The homeowners said the fire could have been worse if the garage was attached to their house and they consider themselves very lucky.
