Brewer Craft Fair Features 45 Booths and Bake Sale

Get your holiday shopping done early at Brewer High School Robotic Team Orange Chaos’ fifth annual craft fair 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 28, at the high school gymnasium, 79 Parkway South. A bake sale and robot demonstrations will be held throughout the Fair.More than forty five local artisans and independent consultants will sell their products. Wood crafts and toys, jewelry, knit goods, soap and lotion, glass bottles fleece items, gift baskets, scarves, engraving, embroidery, doll clothes, wallets, cross stitch, framed art, crochet items, hair bows, tutus, party hats and bags will be available. Honey, Usborne books, Scentsy candles, Lalaroe leggings and clothes, Tupperware, Avon, Tastefully Simple, It Works Global health and beauty products and non-chemical products will also be offered for sale. Murder by the Book at the Jesup

Be at the scene of the crime, the Jesup Memorial Library on Friday, Oct. 27 and Saturday, Oct. 28 for murder, mayhem and more as part of the third annual Murder by the Book, a mystery festival for readers and writers. Tess Gerritsen, whose 12th book in her Rizzoli & Isles series “I Know a Secret” was recently published, is the keynote speaker and will be giving a talk on Saturday at noon. This is your chance to meet one of your favorite mystery writers or find a new favorite, all in one place. The great authors coming this year include: Brenda Buchanan, Dorothy Cannell, Richard Cass, Bruce Coffin, Sarah Graves, James Hayman, Vaughn Hardacker, Maureen Milliken, Katherine Nichols, Stephen Pickering and Lynne Raimondo.    On Oct. 27 from 5:30 to 8 p.m., you can meet and mingle with the writers at a wine reception and then get a glimpse of murders to come as a few authors read from unpublished works in process. This is an exclusive ticketed event. Tickets are $25 and can be purchased at the library in person, by calling 207-288-4245 or online at www.jesuplibrary.org.   Then on Oct. 28, the library transforms into a mecca for all things mystery. Starting at 9 a.m., the library will be full of panel discussions, writing workshops and a keynote talk with Tess Gerritsen at noon. Authors will also be signing copies of their books which will be on sale courtesy of Sherman’s Books. There is no charge for any of the events on Saturday - it's all free and open to everyone.   The Bar Harbor Chamber of Commerce and Sherman’s Books are co-sponsors of this event.
