Intro to Passive House

Date: Tue. 6 Feb, 2018 6:30 pm - 7:30 pm
Duration: 1 Hour

Passive House is a voluntary international building standard developed by the Passive House Institute (PHI), located in Darmstadt, Germany. The Passive House Standard is composed of several strict performance requirements for new building construction. For the renovation of existing buildings, PHI developed a similar, slightly more lenient performance standard. The resulting performance produces approximately a 90% reduction in heating and cooling energy usage and up to a 75% reduction in primary energy usage compared to homes built to conventional building code. Passive House significantly reduces the carbon footprint of a home while making a comfortable, healthy, and affordable environment. This is the first passivhausMAINE-North event, and is geared towards those who are wanting an entry level understanding of passive house fundamentals. Meredith Randolph from Four Winds Design, will host a talk, slide show, and question and answer session. This presentation is intended for architects, builders, business owners, engineers, homeowners and students. Location: College of the Atlantic Gates Auditorium 105 Eden Street Bar Harbor Contact: Meredith Randolph [email protected]
