"We are saddened to announce the passing of Platinum Country Recording Artist Kevin Sharp on Saturday April 19, 2014 at 10:00 p.m. PST," the statement reads. "Born on December 10, 1970, Kevin took the Country Music scene by storm with his first #1 hit, Nobody Knows. He had several other hits to his name and in the last few years, traveled the country with an extremely successful Motivational Speaking career."

Sharp was diagnosed with Ewing's sarcoma, a rare form of bone cancer, while a senior in high school, and overcame it after two years of chemotherapy and radiation.

The Make-A-Wish Foundation granted a wish by Sharp to meet Grammy Award-winning music producer David Foster, who gave him tips to help jump-start his career. Sharp also became a motivational speaker, a spokesman for the Make-A-Wish Foundation and wrote Tragedy's Gift, a 2004 book about fighting cancer.
